Welcome to the 32nd annual Choochokam Arts festival in downtown Langley, Washington. This year ushers in a new Choochokam Arts management committee, as well as a mission to return the festival to its roots: a community celebration highlighting the incredible array of internationally-known artists that call Whidbey Island home.
Choochokam is said to be the Hopi word for "a gathering of stars." This was loosely translated 33 years ago to represent the hundreds of artists on Whidbey Island.
On July 14-15, 2007, Choochokam will gather our regional stars in picturesque Langley-by-the-Sea with more than 100 juried exhibitors. Fine artists, performing artists and musicians will meet at the crossroads of First and Anthes streets with four distinct music venues and an expanded children's area.
There will be street performers, live art demonstrations, a community art project and, of course, the ever-popular Street Dance from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. As always, admission is free.
Limited edition signed Choochokam Arts prints and posters by acclaimed sculptor Alexei Kazantsev will be available with pre-event sales beginning in June.
